About the resources
FastTracking the Future, Sydney Metro’s education program, has been developed by teachers for teachers and offers insight into a current and innovative infrastructure project through more than 130 classroom-ready resources including unit plans and lessons for years K to 10.
The education program provides teachers with classroom-ready materials that will assist primary and secondary students explore the goals of the Sydney Metro project and its legacy for the people and communities of Sydney.
The resources were produced by Sydney Metro in consultation with practising teachers and curriculum specialists. Both teachers and specialists were members of Sydney Metro’s Education Reference Group that advised on the design and development of the teaching resources, and along with independent reviewers, provided comments on the final draft of the resources.
Since its release in March 2014, teachers have used FastTracking the Future resources extensively to support stage-based programming, lesson planning and classroom teaching and learning in schools across Sydney’s North West.
What resources are available?
These resources consist of three elements:
- A teaching and learning book containing classroom-ready teaching and learning ideas and activities, unit and lesson plans, source materials and worksheets.
- Book chapters in Portable Document File (PDF) format.
- Downloadable materials in PDF and MS Word document format including worksheets, images of maps and photographs for use with the interactive whiteboard; and additional teacher support materials to assist with lesson planning and delivery.
