Main site features

The project will deliver rail to this area for the first time, providing for a fast and direct trip to Sydney CBD. The new metro station will provide for an easy interchange with the local bus network along Great North Road. The metro station will be integrated into the area and will align with recommendations of the local council’s Five Dock Town Centre Urban Design Study, building on Five Dock as a vibrant and friendly village to live in, work and visit.

Location

Five Dock Station will be located off Great North Road, between East Street and then at the corner of Second Avenue and Waterview Street.

Access and entry

There will be one station entrance at Fred Kelly Place, off Great North Road.

Planning and compliance

Station excavation and tunnelling

The Department of Planning and Environment granted approval for the Sydney Metro West Project Concept between Westmead and the Sydney CBD and station excavation and tunnelling between Westmead and The Bays in March 2021.

Acciona Construction Australia Pty Ltd and Ferrovial Construction (Australia) Pty Ltd Joint Venture (AFJV) was awarded the contract for station excavation and tunnelling between Sydney Olympic Park and The Bays.

Rail infrastructure, stations, precincts and operations

The Department of Planning and Environment granted approval for rail infrastructure, stations, precincts and operations between Westmead and the Sydney CBD in January 2023.

Utility relocation 

Quickway was awarded the contract to relocate overhead power to underground around the future eastern Five Dock metro station site, as part of ongoing construction for Sydney Metro West.

A temporary construction ancillary facility is required to facilitate construction of this project. The ancillary facility for these works is located on Sydney Metro owned land at 103-105 Silverwater Road, on the corner of Derby St in Silverwater.
