Sydney Metro is delivering Barangaroo’s first-ever railway connection, linking customers to Sydney’s thriving waterfront precinct by way of fast and reliable metro services when the station opens in 2024.

Located 27-metres below the surface, Barangaroo Station is taking shape with the metro platform now in place and the installation of the platform screen doors underway.

Throughout the station, two of five lifts have been installed, as have seven of 10 escalators. Work is also progressing on the installation of the sandstone wall cladding and all electrical, mechanical, fire, and hydraulic services.

Above ground, work continues to build a new drainage system ahead of upgrades to transform the public domain, including landscaping, lighting, bicycle facilities, and street furniture.

A total of 2,255 workers have been involved in the construction of Barangaroo Station being built by contractor BESIX Watpac, with around 200 workers on-site each day.

When metro services start at Barangaroo, customers will benefit from fast travel times that will have them arriving at Martin Place Station in two minutes, North Sydney in just three minutes and to Sydenham in 13 minutes.
