The new Bella Vista Station is taking shape – one of 13 Sydney Metro stations to open in the first half of 2019.

This is the only Sydney Metro station with two of these unique landmark canopies, inspired by the local blue gum leaf.

The canopies have been put together in a series of precision operations with more than 100 tonnes of steel lifted into place for each.

Each canopy is 36m long and 34m wide, and rise 11m above the concourse level.

The southern canopy is about 70 per cent complete with work remaining on the roofing and timber finishes, while the other canopy is about half finished.

The canopies and concourse area provide an entry point from the station’s multi-storey carpark, which will have 800 new commuter car spaces.

The $8.3 billion Sydney Metro Northwest project includes eight new metro stations, five existing stations upgraded to metro standards and 4,000 new commuter car parking spaces.

Sydney Metro services start in the first half of 2019 with a new metro train every four minutes in the peak.

Extra station entrance approved and Sydney Metro work continues at North Sydney
