An historic milestone for the communities of Southwest Sydney with all 10 stations from Sydenham to Bankstown on the 128-year-old Bankstown line now fully accessible.

Dulwich Hill Station is the last of the Southwest stations to have lifts in operation after new lifts were installed and opened at Hurlstone Park, Punchbowl, Wiley Park and Canterbury.

These new upgrades are part of Sydney Metro’s conversion of the T3 Bankstown line, making stations between Sydenham and Bankstown safer and more accessible for everyone, particularly those with a disability, limited mobility, travelling with luggage or with a pram.

Along with the lifts, passengers along the line have already been experiencing the benefits of metro upgrades, including a new pedestrian concourse at Sydenham Station, new pedestrian footbridge at Dulwich Hill Station, and renewed pedestrian concourse and shopfronts at Campsie Station.

New kiss & ride zones at Dulwich Hill, Punchbowl, Hurlstone Park, and Belmore are now also open.

Sydney Metro City & Southwest opens next year between Chatswood and Sydenham, with the Sydenham to Bankstown section due to open in 2025.

Currently, some stations like Hurlstone Park and Canterbury only have four trains an hour, however, when metro services start on the upgraded Bankstown Line in 2025, customers will have a train every four minutes in each direction in the peak – that’s 15 trains an hour each way.
