New homes, jobs and world-class transport as Sydney Olympic Park contract awarded

The Sydney Olympic Park Integrated Station Development Precinct package has been awarded to FCC Construction Australia and Ecove Group, who will deliver the new metro station, surrounding public domain and the adjacent station developments that will help transform the precinct into one of Sydney's most vibrant and connected destinations.
Already welcoming more than 10 million visitors each year for sporting, entertainment and cultural events, Sydney Olympic Park is expected to be home to more than 23,000 residents and 34,000 jobs by 2030.
The future station will reinforce Sydney Olympic Park's position as Australia's premier events precinct while supporting the area's continued growth as a place to live, work and visit.
The integrated station development precinct will deliver approximately 500 new apartments alongside retail, commercial and public spaces immediately adjacent to the station, helping meet housing demand in one of Sydney's fastest-growing precincts.
Initially earmarked for three towers, including a residential tower above the station, the successful tenderer has proposed two residential towers on adjacent development sites. The revised proposal maintains the approved number of residential apartments, ensuring no reduction in housing supply while continuing to support the NSW Government's housing objectives.
Located immediately south of the existing Sydney Olympic Park railway station, the new metro station will be constructed within a 200-metre-long, 37-metre-wide and 27-metre-deep station box.
The station entrance will open into a public plaza creating a clear and easy to find gateway into Sydney Olympic Park for day-to-day use and major events.
Inside, the station's design will reflect the site's history and culture, with materials and lighting inspired by the Olympic cauldron and the mangrove landscapes once found along Homebush Bay.
The concourse and mezzanine will be filled with natural light, creating a calm, welcoming environment for passengers moving between the platforms and the plaza above.
As a key gateway for Sydney Olympic Park's stadiums and arenas, the station and precinct will be built with wide walkways and generous open spaces built to move large crowds comfortably.
A design feature of the new station is its side-island-side platform arrangement, comprising four platforms, that allow it to switch into "event mode" when required.
The central island platforms will cater for everyday metro services, while the outer platforms can be activated during major events to manage large passenger volumes and improve customer movement through the precinct.
The final proposal will be subject to a Detailed State Significant Development Application, when the community will have opportunity to provide feedback.
Passengers will have fast metro travel from Sydney Olympic Park to:
- Parramatta in five minutes
- Burwood North in five minutes
- Five Dock in seven minutes
- Pyrmont in 13 minutes
- Hunter Street in the Sydney CBD in 15 minutes
Station construction is expected to commence around mid-2027.
The contract award follows significant progress across Sydney Metro West, including the completion of tunnelling and excavation of station caverns. The Sydney Olympic Park site is already playing a key role in project delivery, with rail delivery and installation underway.
Sydney Metro West is being designed to ultimately carry up to 40,000 passengers per hour in each direction, providing the capacity needed to support Sydney's future growth and doubling rail capacity between Greater Parramatta and the Sydney CBD.
