Metro train passes 100km/h speed test

13.08.2018

Sydney’s new metro train has successfully completed high-speed testing, passing 100km/h.

The testing checked the train’s stability at high speed.

The train reached a speed of up to 110km/h between Rouse Hill and Kellyville on the elevated skytrain.

By passing its maximum operating speed, experts were also able to test its ability to stop in a safe distance.

So far, 10 of the fleet of 22 new metro trains have been delivered and they have done more than 10,000km of testing.

Reliability, braking and performance testing will continue with testing to progress into the new twin 15km railway tunnels between Bella Vista and Epping.
