Balmoral Rd re-opened

Sydney Metro Kellyville bridge works

Balmoral Road at Kellyville has re-opened after it was upgraded as part of major Sydney Metro Northwest construction work.

The Balmoral T-way station has also re-opened, with easier access for pedestrians and improved landscaping.

Transport for NSW thanks local commuters for their patience during the realignment of Balmoral Road and Miami Street at the Old Windsor Road intersection as well as major road bridge construction.

Balmoral Road closed at Old Windsor Road in March 2016 to enable road upgrading and bridge construction works.

A new bridge now reconnects Balmoral Road with Old Windsor Road over the new Sydney Metro rail corridor.

This 20m long bridge was built using 12 massive concrete beams weighing 30 tonnes each and is one of three new road bridges built between the new Bella Vista Station and Balmoral Road.

The Sydney Metro Northwest Environmental Impact Statement in 2012 outlined local road improvements, including widening Balmoral Road at Kellyville to two lanes each way and moving it 30 metres north to line up with Miami Street at the intersection of Old Windsor Road.

This improved access means that motorists can now turn right on all approaches.

These improvements will result in better access to the new Bella Vista Station and surrounding residential areas, and more direct bus services from Glenwood to Bella Vista.
