Sydney Metro is seeking community feedback on proposed parking changes designed around new stations on the new Sydney Metro Northwest line.
Sydney Metro Northwest opens in the second quarter of 2019. The project includes 13 metro railway stations between Rouse Hill and Chatswood, with 4,000 commuter parking spaces being built at stations along the line.
The Sydney Metro Parking Management Strategy will provide recommendations for the implementation of on-street parking management measures around the eight new Sydney Metro stations in the north west to help ensure safe and efficient access for all customers.
An Overview Report on the Parking Management Strategy has been released. The report provides a summary of the proposed on-street parking changes.
The changes are proposed to be implemented for a range of reasons including:
- supporting safety of local streets
- retaining safe access for emergency and service vehicles
- supporting safe and efficient bus movements
- preservation of local amenity
- supporting efficiency of the road network.
The community is invited to comment on the proposals outlined in the Overview Report by 17 December 2018.
The outcomes of this consultation will be provided to councils, which are the authority for on-street parking changes on local roads and will form part of the information considered by councils when assessing any proposed parking changes.
Community members are invited to submit their feedback on the proposed parking changes by emailing email@example.com or writing to:
Sydney Metro Northwest
PO Box 588
North Ryde BC 1670
Your feedback should be marked ‘Attention: Sydney Metro Northwest Parking Management Strategy’ and include your comments on the parking changes, including whether you support or do not support the changes and the reasons why.
Following the period of public consultation, Sydney Metro will submit the recommended parking changes to councils’ local traffic committees for assessment. Subject to approval by councils, Sydney Metro will implement the parking changes prior to the start of Sydney Metro Northwest services in 2019.
